What are walking boots?

Medical walking boots, Achilles tendon boots, ankle foot walking shoes are all different names;

Walking boots are common clinical ankle fixation braces, which can be used after Achilles tendon surgery, soft tissue injury and minor fracture, and can protect the Achilles tendon from external force and avoid secondary damage.

Pneumatic Walker Brace

1. Operation for Achilles tendon injury: It should be used for 3-4 weeks. After removal of plaster fixation, Achilles tendon boots can be used for further fixation. After the removal of plaster fixation, patients can perform ankle flexion and extension exercise, including toe flexion and extension function exercise, and can also perform local fixation, which is also conducive to the repair of Achilles tendon injury;

2. Soft tissue injury: Achilles tendon boots should be used for 3-4 weeks. If the patient recovers quickly, they can be gradually removed after 2-3 weeks. If the patient does not have fracture, but only has soft tissue congestion, edema, swelling, etc., weight bearing walking training can be carried out after using Achilles tendon boots;

3. Minor fracture: the use time is 4-6 weeks. The patient can use Achilles tendon boots for local fixation, which is conducive to wearing and stripping, daily cleaning, bathing, etc. For patients with minor fractures, after the local pain and swelling completely disappear, they can walk with partial weight bearing.

It is suggested that the patient should wear walking boots step by step, slowly break away from the support of double crutches, and walk with weight gradually. If the patient recovers to the point where the heel can be turned up, the angle should be adjusted under the guidance of the doctor to allow the shoes to move within a certain range, but large movements should be avoided to prevent the disease from lingering and not conducive to the recovery of the disease.
